When President Putin visited President Bush in Kennebunkport, Maine, yesterday, both men sported a professional, yet relaxed, look. No ties or jackets required. While Mr. Bush’s bright blue patterned shirt was just fine, Mr. Putin’s short-sleeve shirt was noticeably stylish in a light fabric and a double button collar.

The stacked buttons are an increasingly popular detail on men’s shirts. “It’s certainly something we’re seeing on European and better dress shirts,” the men’s fashion director of Macy’s, Stephen Cardino, said.

Men who wear similar shirts should take note when tying their ties. “With a higher collar, you need to be sure that you’re giving yourself a large enough knot. You don’t want to have a wimpy knot,” Mr. Cardino said.
