The look at Michael Kors was total relaxation, with a sexy edge – like a cocktail hour during a beach vacation. Mr. Kors kept up his penchant for black and white in his spring collection, but rounded it out with earthy, neutral shades (including camo) that suggested sun kissed vacations. Most striking was the designer’s return to a full-coverage shape for bikinis and maillot bathing suits. Bikini bottoms came with high waists and a low line across the thighs, as opposed to high cuts that show off the hips. One-piece suits featured the low cut, too, in a look to the past.

Sportswear at the hands of Mr. Kors continues to be chic, yet relaxed in a way that seems somehow distinctly American. Casual pieces were sharp with cropped pants, black linen eyelet shirts, and trench jackets. A long, tiered wrap dress with a deep Vneck stood out among the evening wear. Mr. Kors produced the best use yet of eyelet – a long dress with a deep V-neck, short sleeves, and a proper waist. Across the collection – from bathing suits to evening dresses to trousers – belts made a major showing. For men, the looks were closer to what men really wear than some designers come. One shirt was particularly eye-catching for its brown-and-white bandanna print.
