HULA GIRLS

In this film opening today at the ImaginAsian Theater, it is 1965, Japan, and one by one the old mining towns are fading away. But in one small northern village, one man envisions building Japan’s first Hawaiian Village as a way save his community. The only problem is that no one knows what the Hula is. The skepticism and conservatism of the locals is gradually overcome as their daughters are recruited as “Hula Girls” under one talented and determined dance instructor from Tokyo.
SHORTCUT TO HAPPINESS

Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins star in this re-imagining of Walter Huston’s 1941 classic “The Devil and Daniel Webster.” This adaptation concerns a struggling writer (Mr. Hopkins) who sells his soul to Old Scratch Hewitt) in a desperate bid to find fame and fortune on the literary circuit.
When the writer reneges on the deal and winds up defending himself, he his represented at his supernatural trial by a famed orator.
