THE AVIATOR
A second look at Martin Scorsese’s Howard Hughes biopic clarified my appreciation: white-hot first half, followed by a steady cooling to the knockout final image. Flaws, shmaws: that’s about 10 times what anyone else gives you.
LOS ANGELES PLAYS ITSELF

TOMORROW WE MOVE
(Walter Reade) Even at her most inconsequential, a new film by Chantal Akerman is an event. This comedy (!) with Sylvie Testud gets a New York premiere courtesy of the Jewish Film Festival.
