LONDON (AP) – The U.S. dollar traded mixed against other major currencies in European trading on Wednesday. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.3427, up from $1.3424 Tuesday. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.3435.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Tuesday, included 119.38 Japanese yen, up from 119.12; 1.2192 Swiss francs, up from 1.2181; and 1.1437 Canadian dollars, down from 1.1475.
The British pound traded at $1.9780, up from $1.9716.
In midday New York trading, the dollar bought 119.33 yen and 1.2185 Swiss francs, while the pound was worth $1.9780.
Gold traded in London at $675.60, down from $677.60 late Tuesday. In Zurich gold traded at $674.20, down from $677.00.
Gold closed at $678.35 an ounce in Hong Kong, up $1.80 an ounce from Tuesday’s close of $676.55.
Silver opened in London at $13.78, down from $13.87.
