ABC News named Elizabeth Vargas and Bob Woodruff co-anchors of “World News Tonight” yesterday, replacing the late Peter Jennings.
The network said “World News Tonight” also would become the first network evening newscast to be broadcast live each night in three time zones, including on the West Coast, starting January 2. Ms. Vargas, 43, and Mr. Woodruff, 44, have been two of the chief substitute anchors on “World News Tonight” since Jennings announced in April that he had lung cancer. Jennings died on August 7.
