PICTURING PLACE
Contemporary artists explore the relationship between public and private spaces in the exhibit “Out of Place.” Fittingly, it is on display at a public gallery inside a private corporate building, and was organized by the nonprofit Brooklyn gallery Momenta Art. Works on display include Jennifer Bolande’s scale model of Lever House, Dan Graham and Robin Hirst’s text piece “Corporate Arcadias” (1987), and Craig Kalpakjian’s large-scale prints of architectural interiors, which appear to be photographs of corporate buildings but are actually detailed computer models. Through Friday, June 17, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., UBS Art Gallery, 1285 Sixth Ave., between 51st and 52nd streets, 212-713-2885, free.
SKY SCENES
Aerial photographs by a former Israeli Air Force pilot, Duby Tal, are on display in the exhibit “Terra: Earth and the Human Imprint,” which closes Friday. His longtime collaborator Moni Haramati, also an Israeli Air Force veteran, flies a helicopter as Mr. Tal takes photographs of Israel’s farmland, rivers, and highways from the passenger seat. The exhibit includes 22 large-format color images, from manmade landscapes to pristine natural sites. Messrs. Tal and Haramati’s previous series was “Archeology From the Air,” in which they captured archeological sites covering 350,000 years of human history. Through Friday, 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Ave. at 92nd Street, 212-415-5749, free. Note: Gallery hours vary widely; please call before visiting.
