FILMS IN PRINT Two film directors sign their new books in Manhattan today. Spike Lee signs his memoir “Spike Lee: That’s My Story and I’m Sticking to It” (W.W. Norton), written with Kaleem Aftab (tonight, 6 p.m., Hue-Man Bookstore, 2319 Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 125th Street, 212-665-7400, free, book must be purchased at Hue-Man; also: tomorrow, 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble Union Square, 33 E. 17th St. at Broadway, 212-253-0810, free). And Baltimore favorite son John Waters signs a new volume, published by Avalon, that collects his screenplays for “Hairspray,” “Female Trouble,” and “Multiple Maniacs” (tonight, 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble Astor Place, 4 Astor Place at Broadway, 212-420-1322, free).


OUTSIDE CHANCE A reporter at the Village Voice, Jennifer Gonnerman,reads from her book “Life on the Outside” (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), which follows recently released prisoner Elaine Bartlett and her difficulties adjusting to everyday life. The book, which tackles the effects of New York’s Rockefeller drug laws, was a finalist for the 2004 National Book Award. The reading, which takes place at a “radical bookstore,” benefits Books Through Bars, an organization that sends books to prisoners. Tonight, 7 p.m., Bluestockings Bookstore, 172 Allen St. at Stanton Street, 212-777-6028, $5-$10 suggested donation.
