HAPPY BIRTHDAY Doug Varone and Dancers celebrates its 20th anniversary with two new pieces, “Lux,” set to music by Philip Glass, and “Boats Leaving.” Featured dancers include Larry Hahn and Gwen Welliver. THE ART OF THE DANCE The Chelsea Art Museum presents the Wendy Osserman Dance Company in a program entitled “Dance Inspired by Paintings Inspired by Dance.” The program is a part of “The Spirit of Defiance,” an ongoing exhibit of the abstract paintings of Jean Miotte. A cocktail reception follows.
