PUPPET PLAY Children can make an animal stick puppet and perform their own fantastical “Adventures in Wonderland” puppet show. BOOKMAKING FOR CHILDREN Nancy Loeber of the Center for Book Arts conducts a workshop in constructing a Japanese stab sown book. Afterward, participants have time to put their own words and drawings in the book. The workshop is for children ages 8 to 13 and their adult companions. TRUNK SHOW The hand-and-rod-style puppet company Talking Hands Theater performs Rudyard Kipling’s “How the Elephant Got Its Trunk.” Children sing along during the interactive show, which is accompanied by African drumming. FANCY FUN Author Jane O’Connor and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser present and sign their children’s book “Fancy Nancy” (HarperCollins), about a 6-year-old who believes more is better. Sunday, 1-2:30 p.m., Books of Wonder, 18 W. 18th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues, 212-989-3270, free.


YOUNG PERFORMERS A 12-year-old pianist and a 12-year-old violinist perform with the Daedalus Quartet. The children’s concert celebrates the music of Mozart in the year of the 250th anniversary of his birth. Sunday, 1 and 3 p.m., Merkin Concert Hall, 129 W. 67th St. at Broadway, 212-875-5788, $15.


REMEMBERING KING Gospel singer Joshua Nelson headlines the third annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Commemoration.The event is sponsored by the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. Monday, 6:30 p.m., Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, 212-864-5400, free.
