GEEK CHIC
“Otaku Cinema Slam!” features recent Japanese films that celebrate otaku – geeks with monomaniacal pop-culture obsessions. Up next: A collection of short films by Koji Yamamura, who uses modeling clay, three-dimensional figures, photographs, and drawings to animate surreal stories. Highlights include Mr. Yamamura’s latest work, “The Old Crocodile,” which will make its North American premiere. HISTORIC HEROINE
