VERY WAGNER
The Wagner Society of New York celebrates the 87th birthday of opera singer Astrid Varnay with a screening of the documentary “Never Before.” Director Donald Collup introduces the screening, which focuses on Ms.Varnay’s career before 1956, including her tenure as a soprano at the Metropolitan Opera. DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY
Pianist Steve Sterner provides live accompaniment for two screenings of the short film “Why Worry” (1923), shown as part of a series of Harold Lloyd movies. Lloyd plays a wealthy hypochondriac who stumbles into a Latin American revolution while on a cruise. Each screening is part of a double feature with the film “Movie Crazy” (1932), also starring Lloyd. Tonight and tomorrow, 7:30 p.m. with piano, additional screenings at 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., Film Forum, 209 W.
