JEWISH COOKING Cookbook author Joan Nathan discusses how food portrays the culture and history of the Jewish experience in America. She is the author of “Jewish Holiday Cookbook” (Schocken) and “Jewish Cooking in America” (Knopf) and the host of the PBS series “Jewish Cooking in America with Joan Nathan.” The talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibit “Tolerance and Identity: Jews in Early New York, 1654-1825,” which closes this weekend. SLIDES AND SWINGSETS Four Lower East Side restaurants join together to raise funds for Grand Street Settlement’s Project Playground. Ten percent of the night’s proceeds will go toward the re-building project in October. Tonight, times vary.
