YOUNG VOICES The Young People’s Chorus of NYC holds a fundraising concert for itself to mark its 10th anniversary as an independent chorus. Special guests include the schools chancellor, Joel Klein, and an actor on “Sesame Street,” Bob McGrath. FOLKY NOTES A sometime collaborator with guitarist Marc Ribot, Shahzad Ismaily performs with Garrett Devoe in the band Pure Horsehair. The duo performs a “hodge podge” of folk and soul. Tonight, 11:30 p.m., Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St., between 4th Street and Astor Place, 212-967-7555, $8.

YOU SAY CANTATA The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performs the Bach cantatas No. 133, “Ich freue mich in dir;” and No. 40, “Dazu ist erschienen der Sohn Gottes.” Tonight, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., Metropolitan Museum of Art, Medieval Sculpture Hall, 1000 Fifth Ave. at 82nd Street, 212-570-3949, $60.

THE BRIDGE IS OVER A pioneering rap artist and founder of the Bronx hip-hop collective Boogie Down Productions, KRS-One performs selections from his raucous, consciousness-raising catalog. SOULFUL SURFER A former pro surfer and close collaborator with singer Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter performs laid-back tunes from his sophomore album “Move by Yourself.” A regular on the antifolk scene, singer Dan McCloskey is a featured performer. IRISH TROUBADOUR A singer and songwriter, Damien Rice, gives a concert featuring selections from “9,” his second album of raw folk-pop. Tomorrow and Wednesday, 8 p.m., Beacon Theatre, 2124 Broadway at 74th Street, 212-496-7070, $41.50-$45.
