VEILED VERSE As part of its “Voices of the Rainbow” series, the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University presents a reading by poet Nathalie Landal, whose work frequently explores displacement and the lives of Palestinian Arab Muslim women. The author of the comic novel “Russian Debutante’s Handbook” (Riverhead), Gary Shteyngart, also reads. HEIRS TO LESTER BANGS The Housing Works Used Book Café presents a reading by contributors to “Da Capo Best Music Writing 2006” (Da Capo), an annual collection of music essays and musings. Featured panelists include an editor of the book, Mary Gaitskill, and writers Robert Christgau, Jon Caramanica, and Will Hermes. A music journalist, Daphne Carr, is moderator of the event. POETS AT THE PODIUM The Academy of American Poets and Hunter College present the fifth annual reading by members of the academy’s Board of Chancellors.
