WAR ON SCREEN New York University’s Center on Law and Security presents a discussion on “Al Qaeda Now: The Media and the War on Terror.” Panelists include a terrorism analyst for CNN, Peter Bergen, and the London bureau chief for Al-Jazeera, Yosri Fouda. AMERICAN DESIGN A panel of design experts attempts to answer the question, “How does American design stack up in the increasingly design-driven world economy?” Panelists include a cofounder of the design group Umbra, Paul Rowan; furniture designer Jason Miller, and a business professor at New York University, Mary McBride. Design publicist Kimberly Oliver serves as moderator. The discussion is part of Creative Crossfire, a series of discussions on contemporary design. HELLO, COLUMBUS Writers Judith Thurman and Ed Rothstein join the editor of “Philip Roth: The Library of America Edition,” Ross Miller, in discussing Mr. Roth’s work and influence.
