WHO’S WHO Director and film historian Peter Bogdanovich discusses the life and work of the actors he worked with, including Marlon Brando, John Wayne, and Marilyn Monroe. He is the author of “Who the Hell’s in It: Portraits and Conversations” (Knopf), a collection of essays about 20th-century actors. BAGHDAD STORY Colonel Matthew Bogdanos discusses his experiences in Iraq, where he worked tracking down terrorist networks through their financing and weapons smuggling until he heard about the looting of the museum in Baghdad. He then set about tracking down the stolen antiquities, a mission that took him from Baghdad to Zurich, New York, and London. He is also the author of the book “Thieves of Baghdad” (Bloomsbury). ITALIANS ON STATEN ISLAND The director of Staten Island’s Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, Emily Gear, conducts a guided tour of the museum with a focus on the roles Italian Americans have played in the development of Staten Island. The tour is followed by a discussion conducted by borough historian Dick Dickenson. The event is part of the Historian’s Roundtable series sponsored by the Staten Island Institute of Arts & Sciences. LE MONDE AT LA MAISON The prominent French editorial cartoonist Jean Plantu presents an illustrated lecture in French and English. He will discuss his political caricatures and wordplay, also expounding on the mission of the cartoonist and columnist. Mr. Plantu has worked for Le Monde since 1972. NIGHT COURT The New York City Bar Association presents a discussion on the history of the Rehnquist-led Supreme Court. The moderator, law professor John Barrett, leads a panel of experts in exploring how the Rehnquist court compare with previous courts and what its principle legacy will be.
