WASHINGTON — Mayor Giuliani has hired a leading Republican polling firm as he expands his presidential exploratory committee.
The Tarrance Group is run by Ed Goeas, who started the Battleground Poll, a respected national poll now affiliated with George Washington University. The most recent Battleground Poll, conducted earlier this month, found wide support for Mr. Giuliani’s candidacy and indicated he would defeat Senator Clinton if they faced off in a general election in 2008.
Mr. Giuliani has not said whether he will run for president, but he has sought to expand his network of supporters and his campaign organization in recent weeks. He is scheduled to address the South Carolina state Republican Party on Saturday after visiting New Hampshire last weekend.
