Secret Service Will Guard Obama

Senator Obama was put under protection of the Secret Service, Russ Knocke, a Homeland Security Department spokesman, said. The decision followed a request from Mr. Obama, and there’s no known threat against him, a department official who requested anonymity, said. The Secret Service determined that Mr. Obama met several criteria for protection, such as actively campaigning for president and raising more than $100,000.
