The prostitute who allegedly visited Governor Spitzer in Washington, D.C., a meeting that prompted his precipitous fall from grace, misrepresented her upbringing in comments written on MySpace.com, a longtime friend said.

Ashley Alexandra Dupre, 22, better known as the prostitute identified as “Kristen” in court documents, wrote that she was abused while growing up and was homeless for a time, while in fact she was a child of privilege in Wall, N.J., a quiet town in one of the country’s wealthiest counties, the friend, Jennifer Delvalle, said. She said Ms. Dupre was a star-struck young girl who always dreamed of hitting it big

“She’s very dramatic. I can speak from the time she was 7 until 16 years old, there was never any physical or sexual abuse,” Ms. Delvalle, 26, said yesterday.

She spoke affectionately of Ms. Dupre as a beautiful young girl who always sought to be the center of attention, and was never given a fair shake by many of her schoolmates or children in the neighborhood.

“To know Ashley is to love her,” she said.

Ms. Dupre’s father left the family when she was very young. Soon after, Ms. Dupre’s mother, Carolyn Calbalbo, married a dentist, Michael DiPietro. Ms. Delvalle said Ms. Dupre’s brother, Kyle Youmans, a rebellious young man, always harbored issues about his own father and often fought with Mr. DiPietro. When Ms. Dupre was 17, Mr. Youmans packed up and moved to North Carolina.

Ms. Dupre was very close to her brother, and she felt a void when he left, Ms. Delvalle said. Ms. Dupre began dating a much older man before moving to Manhattan to become a star. “She was destined to become famous somehow,” Ms. Delvalle said.

Calls to Ms. Dupre’s family were not returned.

[ Yesterday, the Associated Press reported that many have flocked to MySpace to view Ms. Dupre’s photos, music, and biographical information. That material was removed yesterday after over more than 5 million visited her page.

Ms. Dupre had also posted two songs at the music sharing site Aime Street, which allows musicians to earn a 70% cut of download fees, which are determined by their popularity.

As of yesterday evening, the songs had been listened to by some 200,000. Downloads were selling for 98 cents each. One song was also making it onto the nation’s radio airwaves.

There is one surefire avenue for Ms. Dupre to cash in, should she choose to: adult men’s magazines. Penthouse and Hustler are already knocking on her door.]
