Two City Employees Arrested in Assault

Police arrested a firefighter and a sanitation worker for assaulting and robbing a man who attempted to stop them from vandalizing cars early yesterday morning in Queens, police officials said.
The firefighter, Chad Bonaventura, and the sanitation worker, Joseph Basile, who police sources said had been drinking alcohol, were arrested at about 4:15 a.m. in the Astoria section of Queens after assaulting the victim and stealing a gold chain necklace that was around his neck, police said.
Both suspects are being charged with robbery, second-degree assault, and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
