At the gala preview of the International Asian Art Fair on Friday night, art collector and board member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Lulu Chow Wang stood at the fair’s entrance speaking with biodegradable dishware entrepreneur Michael Dwork. She hadn’t yet taken a serious look at the exhibits.
“I’m waiting for my husband to get here,” Ms. Chow Wang said.

Around the corner, London art dealer Francesca Galloway talked with a leader of cultural excursions to India, Louise Nicholson. Ms. Galloway has an exhibit of paintings from the royal courts of India opening tonight at the Fuller Building.
Making the rounds at the fair, the president of the Asia Society, Vishaka Desai, bumped into cultural patron Elbrun Kimmelman at the bar.
The Asia Society’s party was about viewing art, but it was also about sharing leads on the many Asian art events around town this week, and showing off beautiful Asian and Asian-inspired costumes.
One advantage of the fair’s new venue this year (a church instead of the Park Avenue Armory) was the balcony. It provided guests with a fantastic vantage point for all the sights.
