The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $100 million plan to shift some homeless services from a downtown area to five new shelters in suburban neighborhoods, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The plan allots about $80 million to help pay for homeless and housing programs, shelters, rent subsidies, and related programs. The plan coincides with political calls to improve the “skid row” district, and a time of increased revenue from rising property taxes as the downtown areas become more prosperous.
