EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J – The Giants released starting defensive end Keith Washington yesterday, a day after cutting starting tackle Norman Hand.


Washington had 17 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery last season before missing the second half of the season after tearing his ACL against Chicago on November 7.


Washington was signed as free agent on March 28, 2003. He started six games in his first season in New York, finishing with 27 tackles, a sack and two fumble recoveries.


He has played in 119 career games with 31 starts and recorded 217 tackles (139 solo), 10 sacks, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, 16 special teams tackles, and two blocked field goals. He also has played for Denver, Baltimore, Minnesota, and Detroit.
