It’s been a very good six months for Lela Rose. In September, the Texas native presented her collection in New York for only the second time. In January, first daughter Jenna Bush wore one of Ms. Rose’s gowns to the pre-inauguration Black Tie and Boots Ball. And this week, the designer’s fast-growing company is headed to the tents for its first show at Olympus Fashion Week.

“It’s a big step,” said Ms. Rose. “You’re putting yourself out there for praise and criticism.”

Her decision to take that step was a matter of having the right management team in place. “When you start getting things together, you never really know what’s going to work. It’s the right time for us,” she said.

Ms. Rose’s Fall 2005 collection – which will be shown on Wednesday – will be full of deep colors but will remain true to her signature style of wearable, feminine clothes.

“There are beautiful, lustrous fabrics,” she said. Expect to see “really vibrant, peacock colors” like deep reds and greens as well as “brocades and unusual color combinations.”

“It’s a bright outlook on fall. Across the country, people don’t want as much heavy clothing,” she said.

As for the dress that Miss Bush wore, it was a thrill to have it selected, said Ms. Rose.

“When she was looking for dresses, it was the first thing I pulled out for her,” she said.

“She has a great figure, and the dress showed off her figure.”
