ARTnews released its annual list of the world’s top 200 art collectors yesterday. The list includes 11 new names: real estate mogul Neil Bluhm; Argentine venture capitalist and real estate developer Eduardo Costantini; New York investor Charles de Gunzburg and his wife, Nathalie; Chinese investor Joseph Lau; the chairman and CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt; film agent Beth Swofford, and venture capitalist James Tananbaum and his wife, Dana. New York has more collectors than any city; Thirty-seven of the collectors, up from 33 in 2006, have their primary residence here.

There are three new entries in the top 10: Chicago-based hedge fund manager Kenneth Griffin and his wife, Anne; financier and investor Henry Kravis and his wife, Marie-Josée; and California investor Charles Schwab and his wife, Helen. The top 10 also includes Ronald Lauder. Mr. Lauder made headlines last year when he purchased Gustav Klimt’s painting “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I” for $135 million.

The complete list will be published in the ARTnews summer issue, on newsstands July 13, and at artnews.com/top200.
