Dow Jones Closes Over 14,000 for First Time

Technology companies rallied on International Business Machines Corp.’s better-than-expected earnings, sending the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index to a record and the Dow Jones Industrial Average over 14,000 for the first time. “We’ve had very good news coming out of tech,” a manager of $2.8 billion at Christiana Bank & Trust Co., Thomas Nyheim, said. “The market has marched up strongly.”
