LONDON (AP) – The American dollar traded mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Thursday. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.3433, up from $1.3367 late Wednesday. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.3428.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Wednesday, included 118.59 Japanese yen, down from 118.67; 1.2137 Swiss francs, down from 1.2204; and 1.1492 Canadian dollars, down from 1.1586.
The British pound traded at $1.9713, down from $1.9753.
In midday New York trading, the dollar bought 118.61 yen and 1.2137 Swiss francs, while the pound was worth $1.9713.
Gold traded in London at $674.50 per troy ounce, up from $672.60 late Wednesday. In Zurich, gold traded at $673.05, up from $671.60.
Silver traded in London at $13.68 per troy ounce, up from $13.52.
