WILLIAMSVILLE — Tops Markets says it will keep its corporate headquarters in western New York and add as many 140 jobs. The president and chief executive officer of Tops, Frank Curci, announced Thursday that the regional supermarket chain has signed a long-term lease to keep its headquarters in Williamsville, where it currently employs 145 workers.

Mr. Curci says Tops will invest more than $5.4 million to create the jobs. Governor Paterson says the state will provide Tops with a $1.2 million grant to assist with the expansion.

Tops operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets in New York and Pennsylvania. It employs about 10,000 workers. In December, Morgan Stanley Private Equity purchased the Tops chain for $310 million from Dutch supermarket operator Ahold.
