FAST TIMES Cheryl Kelley’s paintings of American muscle cars are on display at Lyons Wier Gallery. As a child, Ms. Kelley loved the large-engine automobiles but was told that they weren’t for girls. In painting these Hornets, Camaros, Stingrays, and Chevelles, she emphasizes the feminine curves of their design. But the paintings also celebrate the cars’ basic power, their associations with teenage boy culture, and the “sound of the big 8-cylinder engine.” Through Thursday, June 30,Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Lyons Wier Gallery, 511 W. 25 St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, no. 205, 212-242-6220, free.
