LUNAR NEW YEAR To kick off the Year of the Dog, the Better Chinatown Society puts on an enormous parade complete with floats, marching bands, traditional dragon and lion dances, and more. This year there’s the added bonus of a dog parade. If you don’t have your own dog, pooches dressed in Chinese New Year outfits will be available for adoption. The festival is expected to be the largest event in the history of New York’s Chinatown, with 350,000 participants and spectators. Sunday, 1-3 p.m. parade, festival to follow, free.
