PENNY PERFORMANCE
Traveling Cinema screens the 1931 German film “The Threepenny Opera,” an adaptation of a play by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. Lotte Lenya stars in the film, which was directed by G.W. Pabst just three years after the play’s first performance in Berlin. Live music by the band Mr. Wau Wa, a group that performs music based on Brecht’s writings, accompanies the screening. BACKWARDS LIFE
A sneak preview of Todd Solondz’s latest film, “Palindromes,” takes place tomorrow. The film is about a lonely teenage girl who wants to become a mother. A discussion follows. Mr. Solondz’s previous films include “Welcome to the Dollhouse” (1995) and “Happiness” (1998).
