HANDS ON “Many Hands: Representations of Railroad Workers” opens today at the New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex. The images on view date back to the 1800s. At left is a publicity still taken of a switch tender by A.F. Sozio at Sunnyside Yard complex in Long Island City, c. 1944. Other photographers whose work is on view include Lewis Hine, Gordon Parks, and Frank English,who has worked as a photographer for Metro-North Railroad for the past 22 years. Historic tools and uniforms are also on display. A lecture series kicks off with railroad historians John Gruber and Michael Zega (tomorrow, 6 p.m., free, reservations required).
