SONGS FOR LOVERS The 12-voice ensemble Manhattan Voices presents a Valentine’s Day concert of choral works to, by, or for people in love. The program includes waltzes by Brahms and musical settings of the Song of Songs. Tonight’s program features the option of a special Valentine’s Day dinner at Cafe St. Bart (212-888-2664 for reservations). NEW AMSTERDAM NIGHTS The New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alondra de la Parra, presents the world premiere of New York composer Joshua Feltman’s “Ties That Bind.” The concert also features cellist Andrew Janss performing the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven’s Sympho ny no. 3 Op. 55, “Eroica.” Thursday, 8 p.m., Symphony Space, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, 212-864-5400, $15.
INAUGURAL CONCERT The Metropolis Ensemble, a new chamber orchestra led by Andrew Cyr, presents its debut concert,”Voices of Night.” Saxophonist Marty Ehrlich and tenor Daniel Neer are the guest performers in a program that features the New York premiere of Portland-based composer David Schiff’s “Singing in the Dark,” the centerpiece of the concert. It also includes music by Aaron Copland and Benjamin Britten. HANDEL, FIRST AND LAST The early music ensembles Fuma Sacra and Brandywine Baroque present an all-Handel program conducted by Andrew Magill. The concert includes “Dixit Dominus,” Handel’s earliest choral work, and “The Choice of Hercules,” one of his last. Sopranos Julianne Baird and Laura Heimes are guest soloists.
