SON OF ZEUS William Christie conducts Les Arts Florissants in performing “Hercules,” with music by Handel. Hercules’s wife, Dejanira, enraged by his affair, sends him a poisoned robe. When he dies, his mistress prevails, eventually ruling the land with Hercules’s son. The 32-member choir performs as both a traditional chorus and a roving crowd. The stage is carpeted in sand, and the only set piece is a shattered statue of Hercules. Luc Bondy directs.
