HEALING SOUNDS The Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University delves into the question of what art and the university can do for hurricane-ravaged New Orleans. World-renowned musicians, scholars, architects and city planners will convene at Columbia for performances, presentations, discussions and a photography exhibition. ABOUT FACE A discussion addresses the ethical implications of face transplantation. Panelists are the director of bioethics education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Rosamond Rhodes; the director of the Center for Craniofacial Reconstructive Surgery at New York University, Dr. Joseph McCarthy; the medical director of the Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program at the Rogosin Institute, Dr. David Serur, and Rabbi Leonard Sharzer, M.D. Monday, 6:30 p.m., the Jewish Theological Seminary, 3080 Broadway at 122nd Street, 212-280-6093, free, reservations suggested.
