EATING WELL The comedic theater festival Eat It kicks off with a revival of the popular pop-culture play “Matt and Ben,” in which two women play the roles of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.). Other highlights: Eight short performances by the Minneapolis based dance troupe Three Dances (Friday, 9:30 p.m., Saturday, 3:30 p.m.); the offbeat and off-color cabaret show “Rainbows and Razorblades” (Saturday, 5 p.m.), and “Dorian and Carrie,” a play by comedian Dorian Davis and writer Carrie Anne Faver about a tragic love affair between characters named Dorian Davis and Carrie Anne Faver (Saturday, 9:30p.m.). On Sunday night, many of the performers gather for a “Best of the Fest” finale (Sunday, 8 p.m.). The festival is a production of the Longest Lunch Theater Company and Artistic Evolucion. GODFATHER AND SON Darren Murphy’s “Tabloid Caligula” is staged as part of the Brits Off Broadway theater series. It follows an aging gangster, his young protege, and the woman who inevitably comes between them. Lisa Forrell directs. HURT BY THE MACHINE A revival of Sophie Treadwell’s 1928 drama “Machinal” tells the story of a woman driven to crime by society’s sped-up demands.The plot is loosely based on a 1927 murder case that became a tabloid fixture in its day. Morgan Anne Zipf directs the Dreamscape Theatre production. The play is performed in repertory with an adaptation of “Hamlet” (opens Friday) and the dark comedy “Tiny Dynamite” (opens Saturday).
