Epstein Victims and Families Urge King Charles To Meet With Them During This Month’s Visit to America

King Charles III is being asked to add an item to the itinerary for this visit to America later this month—a meeting with the family of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent accuser. The meeting, if it materializes, would come days after the April 25 anniversary of the death of Virginia Giuffre, who before her suicide last year accused King Charles’ younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, of sexually abusing her on three occasions in 2001, beginning when she was 17 years old.“We strongly urge King Charles to meet with us and survivors and hear what we have to say,” the family wrote in an email to the Washington Post, which reported on the missive Saturday.King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to visit Washington and New York from April 27 to 29 at the invitation of President Trump as part of the festivities marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.Highlights of the official itinerary, which has not been formally announced, are expected to include an address to Congress, a White House state banquet, and a visit to the 9/11 Memorial in New York.Giuffre’s family is not alone in pressing for the king to add a meeting with survivors of Epstein’s predations. Congresswoman Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, wrote to the king on March 30 asking that he privately meet with the survivors so “they may speak to you directly about the ways powerful individuals and institutions failed them.”“Survivors want this meeting,” added Mr. Khana, a co-author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.A lawyer representing some of Epstein’s victims, Sigrid McCawley, has also issued a statement urging the king to meet with the victims. “An audience with King Charles for survivors would be a step in the right direction by the monarch in acknowledging the wrongs that were committed by one of their own but were hidden from the public for far too long,” he wrote, according to the Post.Still, a meeting seems unlikely. Britain’s Sky News quotes sources in the U.K. saying a meeting would be “ill-advised” because of a continuing police investigation into accusations against Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor.The former Prince Andrew was arrested at his home on February 19 in connection with suspicions that he shared confidential government trade information with Epstein while serving as a U.K. trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor was previously stripped of his royal titles and evicted from his 30-room royal lodge in response to the burgeoning Epstein scandal. He reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022 but has always denied involvement in any illegal acts.King Charles has repeatedly pledged his “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” with the investigations concerning his brother and maintained that “the law must take its course.”
