Conductor Rostropovich Is Hospitalized

MOSCOW — Cellist-conductor Mstislav Rostropovich, 79, was in satisfactory condition yesterday at a hospital and improving, his spokeswoman said. The renowned musician was taken to a Moscow hospital because of an unspecified illness and was visited Tuesday by President Putin of Russia.
