A New York City crane inspector has resigned a month after he was suspended for neglect of duty.
The city Department of Buildings says Michael Carbone submitted his resignation yesterday.
The acting commissioner, Robert LiMandri, says Mr. Carbone was suspended without pay June 27 for neglect of duty. He says Mr. Carbone was subject to an ongoing internal probe.
City records show Mr. Carbone dismissed complaints that some crane operators were working with licenses obtained fraudulently.
The buildings department hasn’t commented on what role Carbone played in inspecting the scene of a May 30 crane collapse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
