While most Federal Express workers drop off packages, one man clad in a FedEx uniform and contracted by the delivery company was instead picking things up and stealing them, police officials said.
On Tuesday, there were two such theft cases, both on 84th Street, and on September 12, there was one on East 90th Street, law enforcement officials said.
The suspect – who has been arrested four times before – reportedly quit his job not long after pulling off the Tuesday heists, the authorities said.
In one case, the suspect entered the building under the auspices that he needed to use the bathroom, officials said. A tenant in the building allegedly returned home from walking her dog to find the suspect in her bedroom.
On his way out of the building the suspect allegedly punched in the face someone who tried to stop him and caused damage to the lobby door.
Outside, the thief pulled off his FedEx shirt and threw it into the company truck as he climbed inside, officials said.
