Three men were shot and one died just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning in Jamaica, Queens, police said. David Alston, 22, was shot once in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Two friends, who were not identified, were listed in stable condition. One was shot twice in the back and the other was shot once in the stomach, police said.
Alston, of Jamaica, was at a party with friends at a club when a fight broke out and the shots were fired, his cousin, Michael Ware, 32, said.
Alston worked in construction and was the oldest of six brothers and sisters, Mr. Ware, said.
“He was a loving kid. Everyone loved him,” he said.
Alston had been engaged in minor spats with the law, but was not violent, Mr. Ware said.
Police said they are investigating the incident and have not yet made any arrests.
