As the New York City Police Department searches for a man who they say kidnapped his daughter in Boston and then fled here, the Boston Police Department said they found the getaway vehicle.
Clark Rockefeller, 48, seized his 7-year-old daughter, Reigh, during a supervised custodial visit Sunday and then fled to New York City, according to law enforcement authorities. Police said Mr. Rockefeller was trying to reach his yacht, called Serenity, on Long Island with his daughter.
Boston police said today they found the black SUV that Mr. Rockefeller jumped into with his daughter to flee and are questioning the owner.
The alleged kidnapping has drawn significant media attention because law enforcement authorities originally said Mr. Rockefeller was the grandson of the former governor of New York, Nelson Rockefeller. However, a senior archivist at the Rockefeller Archive Center, Amy Fitch, said the suspect is not a descendant of the father of John D. Rockefeller Sr. and William Rockefeller, William Avery Rockefeller.
