Police are searching for a suspect in the robbery and beating of a 95-year-old woman in Manhattan on Saturday, police officials said.

The suspect allegedly stole the victim’s purse from around her shoulder and pushed her to the floor of the hallway outside her apartment in the East River Coop on the Lower East Side at about 2:15 p.m., police said.

Before fleeing the scene, the suspect allegedly kicked the midsection of the victim, who was not identified by authorities, police said.

Police were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to New York University Hospital, where she was treated for a broken collarbone and several bruises to her arm, police said.

A surveillance video from the building shows a black male wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and tan boots following the victim to her apartment, according to police.

Police did not disclose how much money was stolen from the victim.

Several neighbors told CBS News that the victim is active for her age and does many of her own chores.
