Due to low enrollment, two Catholic elementary schools will officially close in June, the Diocese of Brooklyn announced this week.
Enrollment at St. Charles Borromeo School in Brooklyn Heights, and Presentation School in Jamaica Queens, is 133 and 155 respectively. Diocesan schools with fewer than 250 students are considered “at risk” for closing, a diocese spokesman, Frank DeRosa said. A Feb. 6 fire at St. Charles Borromeo has already forced that school shut, and Presentation will close at the end of the academic year.
