Two out-of-state gun dealers have agreed to settle in a lawsuit brought against them by the city, Mayor Bloomberg announced today.

Under the settlement, the two dealers, John’s Gun & Tackle Room of Easton, Pennsylvania, and Franklin Rod & Gun Shop of Rocky Mount, Virginia, agreed to submit to independent monitoring of their sales activity.

Mr. Bloomberg has led a campaign to prosecute out-of-state gun dealers caught illegally selling guns that end up in the hands of criminals in New York City. The settlements come two days after a federal judge in Brooklyn, Jack Weinstein, ruled that New York courts have jurisdiction to hear such lawsuits.

The dealers were among 15 named in a lawsuit by the city in May, 2006.
