BUCKNELL SHOCKS NO. 10 PITTSBURGH
Kevin Bettencourt made two free throws with 23 seconds remaining to give Bucknell the lead in a 69-66 victory over no. 10 Pittsburgh last night, one of the biggest wins in school history. Bettencourt’s free throws made it 67-66 and Charles Lee added two free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining to seal the win as Bucknell beat its highest-ranked opponent ever.

U.S. FALLS, CANADA ADVANCES AT JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Anton Khudobin helped Russia set up a title-game showdown with Canada in the world junior championships, making 22 saves in a 7-2 semifinal victory over the defending champion United States last night. Russia’s Sergei Shirokov broke a 2-2 tie late in the first period, and Evgeni Malkin made it 4-2 midway through the third. Alexander Ovechkin, the top pick in the 2004 NHL draft, and Malkin added empty-net goals, and Mikhail Yunkov completed the scoring with a second left.
Canada advanced to the title game of the tournament for the fourth straight year, beating the Czech Republic 3-1. Jeff Glass made 10 saves, allowing only Rostislav Olesz’s shorthanded goal in the third period. Canada is 5-0 in the tournament and has outscored its opponents 35-6.

SOURCE: MILES TO TAKE OVER AT LSU
Oklahoma State football coach Les Miles will replace Nick Saban at LSU, a source close to the negotiations said yesterday. The 51-year-old Miles, who led Oklahoma State to three straight bowl games, emerged as the top candidate Saturday, after Louisville coach Bobby Petrino withdrew from consideration. Miles is 28-21 in four seasons with the Cowboys, who had made just one bowl appearance in the 12 seasons before he arrived.
