Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt is drawing praise from the Jewish community after alleged leaked direct messages show him taking a forceful stand against antisemitism and pledging to strengthen protections for Jewish residents.The Instagram messages, shared on X Monday night, appear to show the former reality TV star responding to a question about his plans to secure the safety of Jewish Angelenos and students on the city’s college campuses. In the exchange, Mr. Pratt describes antisemitism as a “mind virus and a sign of a decaying society” and accuses current leaders of playing “far too cute with anti-semitic groups and tropes.” He pledged: “That BS stops when I am mayor.”Mr. Pratt went on to outline several specific actions he would take if elected, including directing the Los Angeles Police Department to increase patrols around synagogues and Chabad centers, publicly pressuring university leaders to protect Jewish students from harassment, and urging the Justice Department to “aggressively pursue” civil rights cases.“I will never cower to social media trends or bullies. I don’t care how en vogue it is, I will never abandon my Jewish brothers and sisters,” he wrote in the alleged exchange. “We’ve seen this movie before, and this crap ain’t happening on my watch. ‘Never again’ is right now.”The messages were shared by independent journalist James Li. Mr. Pratt’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.The exchange resonated with Jewish residents and commentators who lauded Mr. Pratt’s firm statements. “Easiest choice ever,” proclaimed a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur, Matt Bilinksy. “I’m a big Spencer Pratt fan,” radio host Mark Levin wrote. “Dude just gets better,” remarked a senior editor of Commentary magazine, Seth Mandel. The series of messages also caught the attention of Senator Rick Scott of Florida, who declared that Mr. Pratt “is right” and that “every single person should be saying this.” Mr. Pratt announced his mayoral bid in January, on the one-year anniversary of the devastating Pacific Palisades wildfires, which killed 12 people and destroyed more than 6,000 residential properties. Mr. Pratt and his wife, a fellow “The Hills” star, Heidi Montag, were among those who lost their homes in the blaze. He has since gained traction through vociferous criticism of Ms. Bass’s wildfire response and a series of viral campaign videos that harnessed his camera savvy to take aim at California’s political establishment.
