SUMMER SIGHTS The summer show at Jim Kempner Fine Art, “Ripe for Picking,” offers a variety of perspectives on fruit and flowers. Prints, photographs, and paintings by contemporary artists including Ellsworth Kelly, Donald Sultan, Vik Muniz, Marc Quinn, Laura Letinsky, and Mary Carlson are on display. BEST OF VIRIDIAN The Viridian Artists gallery honors the winners of its 16th annual juried exhibition. First prize will be awarded to Benette Rottman, for a photograph titled “Noah’s Op.”The runnersup are Joseph Guggino and Trever Nicholas. The winners were chosen by a professor at N.Y.U. and curator at the Guggenheim, Robert Rosenblum. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY A group show of sound works explores the phenomenon of synesthesia, in which experiences in one sense prompt other senses to react – for example, when a smell produces visualizations of a color. “What Sound Does a Color Make?” asks how synesthesia is connected to contemporary audiovisual art, which forces viewers to use more than one sense in interpretation.
