DESERT OASIS Young sophisticates dine at the American Museum of Natural History before its annual Winter Dance, this year themed Desert Oasis. The intimate dinner is held in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals followed by dessert and dancing in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda along with a silent auction. Thursday, 7:30 p.m. cocktails and dinner, 9 p.m. dessert and dancing, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street, 212-496-3495, $175 dessert ticket before Friday, $200 dessert ticket after Friday, $500 dinner.
